Reason Cubase rewire engine problem?

i open cubase 5, then set rewire, i have the audio driver to NOT release when in background as instructed, then open reason... then get a problem with the engine. i have changed NOTHING since this last worked, help? :( im supposed to be mixing and adding to a track over the past few days, this is desperate.
