Smoking Outlet Nothing Plugged Why?

First Thought was drawing too much power to that circuit, but its been heating the prongs on cellphone chargers and such, so that led me to maybe the ground not being connected and i opted to replace and rewire a new outlet altogether. is there a way to test without risking potential fire after new outlet installation. id really prefer not to rip out all the dry wall we just put in, in fact if it can't be saved by this new outlet installation id rather just cap it and say screw it.
