Breaker box keeps buzzing?

My breaker box keeps buzzing, and it only has done it since me and my husband had a friend of ours to come up here and rewire the water heater, cause the wires weren't hooked up properly. And now the breaker box starts buzzing after we use the hot water, and it's been starting to cut itself off randomly, now. It wasn't cutting itself off as often, but now it's doing it more frequently. I just had to turn it back on to do the dishes, and I just heard a pop noise like it cut itself back off again. So I don't know, I was wondering if this is a fire hazard? So far there hasn't been a fire, obviously, but I was still wanting to make sure. My mom is calling an electrician here, soon, but I don't know when they're going to be able to come up here to do anything about it, that's what I'm worried about.
