Can I upgrade from 32-bit Windows 7 to 64-bit?

The problem I'm having is that Adobe After Effects, a program that I really love and spend countless hours in experimenting with, is only supported with a 64-bit version of Windows 7. I have 32-bit. Is there any way I could upgrade to 64-bit, and what would be the process to do so?
