Completely torn.. Opinions please?

I need serious opinions. My husbands' father died a few years before we got married, and left him with 51 acres of land, and a house that is paid for (not on the land). We are living in the house that he left us, but it needs some serious repairs, as it is an old house. We have already spent a good $2,000 dollars on repairs, but things keep popping up. We still have to put down new floor in the kitchen, hallway, and bathroom (the vinyl tile is coming up), fix 2 fist size holes, and 3 body size holes in the dry wall, rewire the WHOLE house and put in a new fuse box in a different area, and we have just discovered mold growing from under the hardwood floor and the walls in the living room. We have never borrowed money and we are trying so hard not to, but this is becoming an overwhelming burden, and we are just not able to afford much more. I am so afraid we will start to fix something, and something else wrong will be discovered. Someone in our family suggested selling the house and buying a mobile home to put on the 51 acres until we have saved up for another house, and another suggested selling the house and renting a place until saving up the money. I am torn on what to do. I would like some more opinions.
