Having electrical problems in house and owners refuse to fix.Can i get out of lease?

I have been having major electrical problems with our house we rent and the rental company failed to tell us that the house was having them before we moved in and that it needed to be rewired,but the owner refuses to rewire the house.I have had 2 outside plugs burn,2 outlets inside not work,bathroom light works when it wants to and recently a light above our kitchen sink litterally exploed and sparked everywhere.They said they will fix the problems,but I told them they really aren't bc when it comes down to it the house needs to be rewired like they informed us just a month ago.They gave us a chance to get out of our lease,but only gave us 2wks and my husband was deploying in 2 wks.That doesn't give me time to find a place and save up money as well and pack and move.My queastions are isn't there a safty code for here in tx?Are they breaking our lease by not fixing the real problem and failed to with hold info from us before we moved in?
